Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. She released her first EP on the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain fame. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first released music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her single Bound along with her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes, in Sweat It Out on the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole had her send her songs for the Dreamville Team later that year because he was hoping for Rihanna to collaborate together on a few references. On the 8th of December, it was confirmed that she had been contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she performed together with Cozz for her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. The 21st of October, 2016, the artist released her debut album called Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer on behalf of J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she appeared on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. And Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was then followed by a short video in September. On November 9, she released two additional singles, the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two singles more were released by her on November 13, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made appearances on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this single as a way to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The song, made available with a video posted on YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than three million times over the first seven days. In December of 2018 the singer was a part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
