Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th, 1991. She's an American singer-songwriter and the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. She released her first EP on the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she gained fame. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox first released her music on the internet in 2012. Her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014, she released more music via the Internet including Bound. The song Sweat it included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21, 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to use it together with Rihanna. The news was released on the 8th of December that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 21, 2016, she dropped her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer to J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, Ari Lennox appeared on two tracks with EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, and Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video to accompany it was also released on September 5th. She released her second single, Grampa on November 9. On November 13 she then dropped two singles titled One and Pedigree. One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single the 26th of February, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared along with Cole on The Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. In February of 2019 the music video for this song was released. The track has garnered over 3 million YouTube views in just one week. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
