Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is an Mexican American broadcaster. She currently works as a sportscaster for ESPN and is an anchor of SportsCenter news and hosting SportsNation. She started working at ESPN in 2016. Her mother is TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bilingual since the age of nine years old. It was a helpful ability that allowed her to secure her first position as a production assistant at Univision in Miami that gave her the chance to work with the producers of national programs such as Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Then she was promoted to a reporter for the CBS St. Petersburg affiliate following that. In 2009, she relocated in Rio Grande Valley to work as a reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. Covering stories on the issue of immigration and drug trafficking from both sides of the Texas-Mexico border, she served as a reporter on newscasts at 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a reporter and later anchor of news at 9 p.m. newscast, which was in English, and a reporter again for news at 10:30 p.m. Spanish newscast. The station also frequently asked her to be an anchor for weather and sports. She then anchored and reported for Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was given more responsibilities. She wrote pieces on Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason Finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was host of on the regional Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She became a sports host on the morning show that is Despierta America Deportes. The anchor also worked in the same role as Primer Impacto on UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo for its magazine show. Antonietta Collins' parents were born in Veracruz Mexico. The family relocated from Veracruz Mexico to Mexico City where she was born on November 22 1985. She is older than her sister. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico for the US and eventually settled in Miami. After a short time, her father split from her mother. She was subsequently remarried by 1995 naval architect called Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away of kidney carcinoma in the year 2006. In the summer of the year 2006, Antonietta spent one week with her sibling in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl worked there. Antonietta who was in high school having a clear idea of where she would like her life to look like, traveled to Mount Union University to see what she could get out of the college. The result was that she enjoyed the university, and the university provided the degree she was looking for. She graduated from high school and was enrolled in media studies at the university. The professor she had was Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was a part of her class, formed an ongoing friendship with the student. Mark Bergmann inspired her to believe in herself and also his love for journalism deeply influenced her. She, determined to live up to the expectations of him and not failed him.
