Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins is an Mexican American journalist. She works as an ESPN news anchor and hosts SportsNation often. In 2016, she joined ESPN. She is a daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a TV reporter. Antonietta has been bilingual since the age of nine. Her ability was crucial in helping her get her first position as producer assistant at Univision Miami, where she worked with the producers of numerous shows, including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Her next assignment was a Sports Reporter at the CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009, she moved in Rio Grande Valley to work as a reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. Reporting on stories about trafficking in drugs and immigration on both sides of the border, she worked as a reporter for five minutes of the p.m. Spanish newscast a anchor and reporter for news at 9 p.m. newscast in English, and a reporter again for at 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. In addition, she was used occasionally as a weather and sports anchor. She then anchored and reported on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was assigned more responsibility. She wrote for The NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. She was the producer of Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and anchored it. She became a sports host on the morning show on Despierta America Deportes. The anchor also worked in the same role for the network's magazine show Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was a native of Veracruz Mexico. The family relocated to Mexico City where she was born on 22 November 1985. She has an elder sister. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico for the US and settled in Miami. Her parents divorced within a short time and in 1995, she married a naval designer named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 due to kidney cancer. While on a vacation Antonietta spent the time at her sister's house in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sister had just landed an offer to work. Antonietta was a senior high school student, but she had a very clear vision of what she wanted to do in her future career. She visited Mount Union University to determine if they suited her. In the end, she loved the campus and that they had the kind of program she was searching for. She graduated from school and was attended the University as a major in media studies. Mark Bergmann - her professor was also the station manager at WRMU (91.1 FM) which was where she felt at home. The professor encouraged her to be confident and was deeply touched by his enthusiasm for journalism.
